My object is a football that was handed to me by an old Giants player named Odell Beckham Jr (OBJ) in 2016. My family has a love for football and treats game days the same as birthdays. I often wore jersey’s around the house, and my favorite player was OBJ. However, I had never gone to a game and always begged my parents to get me tickets to see OBJ play. They finally listened and I was going to a game against the Washington redskins. I insisted that we show up 2 hours early to watch the team warm up. There I stood in my number 13 blue Giants jersey screaming “Odell” “Odell”. He then ran up to me and handed me the ball. It felt like a young boy’s dream- “my life is complete” I thought. That game connected my love for the sport with my American culture and family traditions. Football became more than something we watched together– it was a way to preserve our American history and culture. The ball, now sitting proudly in my room, serves as a powerful reminder of how sports can connect people, and how a single moment can influence someone's outlook on life.
