My object is a flute Christmas ornament. My parents bought it from an online store. We use it for decoration on our Christmas tree and to represent a new skill that I tried that year because I had never played an instrument before.  I felt very proud when I opened the little black bag with gold snowflakes printed across the front and saw a little flute ornament at the bottom.  Me, my parents and my little brother use it every year and it's made out of metal and plastic string.              
              I chose this object because it was my Dad’s family's tradition to get a new Christmas ornament each year and hang it up on the tree. This is connected to my dad because he is Christian and his family used to do this tradition and now we do it too. I love that this is connected to my Dad’s side of the family because they live farther away than my Mom’s parents so I don’t get to see them as much.               
             I chose this ornament instead of any of the others because all the other years me and my little brother Donovan each got the same ornament but in different colors. My parents always bought them for us so we couldn’t pick the ones we wanted. That year we each got one describing something special we did. I enjoyed this project because I got to learn more about something that I thought I already knew everything about.
