My artifact is a flag of Poland. The flag consist of two wide almost equal in width stripes.The white stripe represents the white eagle of Poland. The red stripe represents Szlachta which means nobility. It’s important to my family because my mom’s side of the family came from Poland to the U.S. She was young when she came, but not a little kid. So, she has great memories of Poland. 20th century Polish insurgents wore white and red brassards [armbands] during the greater poland uprising [1918-1919].
