For my family the flag is more then just a symbol.  it is a reminder of our courage through  difficult times the purity of the values we continue to hold  and the loyalty we feel toward our people and heritage. Even though we are far away from our homeland  the flag keeps us connected to it.  Whenever i see the flag i think of my family and the other karen people and the journey and the importance of remembering who we are.
