My object is fine china that my great-great grandmother bought in Japan in 1950. Fine china is widely known for its fancy, elegant look, usually coming in colors of white, ivory, light blue, or even silver and gold linings for an extra pop. However, there are many different colors and designs to choose from, including personalized pieces. My collection of fine china is white with  pink flowers for the design. My family and I own cups, plates, and bowls. Most people use fine china for special occasions, however others may use it on a daily basis. My family stores our fine china in a cabinet for display. Our family history with fine china started with my great-great grandmother. We own a piece called “Lyric” made in Japan. I learned from my mom that my great-great grandmother traveled all the way to Japan to buy this piece of porcelain. My mom said, “She bought it in Japan when she was visiting and held onto it, she then passed it down to her daughter who is my grandmother, who passed it down to me.” I then asked my mom if I would get the chance to continue this family tradition, she responded with, “Yes!” I am excited I get the honor to keep up a tradition and take care of an object that has been a part of our family since around the 1950’s.
