This shirt is very important to my father and to the rest of my family because when my father was three years both of his parents left him and his three sisters with their aunt in Mexico while they came to the US. This shirt was handmade by my father's grandmother. The shirt reminds my dad of his childhood and his grandmother. The thing he remembers most about his grandmother is how she would cook back in Mexico with rocks in rounded shape with wood for the fire and a pan on top of the rocks (like a fireplace). There were many memories of my dad’s childhood but that was his favorite. When he went to visit her back in 2004, she was blind. He said when he entered her house, she said his name, but no one had told her that he was coming and at that moment he said that he started to cry because she was there for him when his parents weren’t.
