Family Timeline

Group:

My family started immigrating in the late 1800s from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and landed in San Antonio, Texas. The person in my family who most represents my cultural identity is my great uncle Frank. My great uncle Frank represents my culture the most because he is very traditional and shows his Mexican pride. He cooks Mexican food and brings my family together. He also knows all the facts about my Mexican relatives who have passed away. My object is a 10 page timeline consisting of my family’s names, pictures of them, and things they did and accomplished in their lives. My object belongs to my grandma who actually was born in Chicago but yet represents my culture in many ways. My timeline dates back to 1888 and it’s interesting to see my family history. My object came from my family in California whom I’ve never met before, and then was given to my grandma. I don’t often use my object but when I do it's to look back on my family or when I want to reflect on my life. It shows me how hard my family worked so they can provide a better life for me today. My object is important to me because it shows my history and it reminds me of how proud I am to be Mexican-American.
