Family Immigration to America
In may 1947 my family took a risk and decided to migrate from Yemen in the middle east and came all the way to the U.S. They journeyed to England by boat and proceeded to take a plane to the U.S. During that time period Yemen was a very dangerous and unsafe place. My great-grandmother risked her own life to provide her kids with a better life. This photo means a lot to me because it has been passed down from generations and it shows the perseverance and bravery of my family. My Great-Grandmother Bertha sadly passed away a few years ago. Although I had not known her for that long I was still able to make a relationship with her and cherish her memory in my heart. Whenever I look at this picture it reminds me of her and the few but great memories that I made with her.
