Family Home

Relationship: Child of im/migrant
Group:

My family isn't very materialist but the one thing we have kept is our house. My parents came to the U.S in 1987 but got the house in 1997. Before getting the house, living was very unstable for my family. The house signified, stability, safety, comfort, and pride. The house was like a big blanket to us on a cold winter night, it was always there when things went wrong, Just like our mother. In a way the house is like our mother who fought to keep it. The house is filed with memories from the lowest points to the highest. We have seen many people come and go but the one thing that always stays is the house. It's not just a house it’s a home were my siblings and I grew up. The house may not be the biggest on the block but it’s my home.
