Paprika Spiced Chicken

It is a food my family makes on Shabbat. It is from Poland. Before Shabbat my great grandma, Yellen would make the special spiced chicken. Then it would be good to eat cold because you can’t cook on Shabbat. I don’t know how, but it eventually got the name of Potashner Chicken. Yellen made it for my Nana, who would make it for my dad, who makes it for me. And one day I will make it for my kids. Although now we do cook on Shabbat, and eat it warm. My great grandma used to make it when she lived in Poland. She brought it over to the United States when she immigrated here in 1916. This food shows my proud Jewish culture. The chicken brings back memories of my dad’s childhood celebrating Shabbat. And the same for my Nana. It makes me think of Shabbats that I have now when I do have time to celebrate them. As you can see this is a very significant thing for my family and I.
