  Emma
Emma. Comfort. Happiness. All in one stuffed animal. Emma is a pink stuffed elephant that I have had since I was 4 when my Dad gave her to me. She has two small brown sewn eyes, a light pink body with white dots all over her. Her trunk has lost the sewing and stuffing from years of love.
I use Emma as a comfort object to help calm me when I’m angry and in my darkest times. She has been to both of my houses, hidden away in my backpack, held at night and the sad times and seen every movie and TV show with me. Emma is something that makes me feel safe with myself because of my love for stuffed animals. Stuffed animals are a part of my identity that I choose to share because they are a comfort of mine.
Emma teaches me the American experience because she was given to me by my father who is an immigrant who came from Canada to the United States for college.
Some questions I would ask Emma if she was given a voice is do you like the name you were given as a child? Are you happy with me? What emotions do you feel when I hold you or when I’m not around you?
Even though I am 16, Emma will always be with me when I turn 32.
