El MOLCAJETE
The molcajete is an object made of concave stone to make sauce, created in Mesoamerica 8,000 years ago. It is important to me because it is part of my Mexican culture and identity. It is a basic utensil in almost all Mexican homes. It's also important because it reminds me of the first time my grandmother taught me how to make salsa. On a normal day, I woke up and saw my grandmother cooking, so she asked me to help make the sauce. I had already seen my grandmother make salsa and it didn't look difficult. She gave me the ingredients for the sauce and some water. I started to grind them and I realized that it was not as easy as I thought. Strength was needed in the arms. My grandmother told me. You should not try so hard because little by little you will learn. She taught me the correct way to grind in the molcajete. When I finished grinding the sauce my hands began to shake and my grandmother told me that it was because my hands had not done something like using the molcajete. Today I can use the molcajete perfectly. Thanks to my grandmother because she was the one who taught me and I hope I don't forget how to grind in the molcajete since now I am in the USA and we don't use it much here anymore.
