El Divino Niño de Jesús
My object is a statue of Jesus when he was a child. It's from my country the Dominican Republic. My grandmother and great-grandmother use it to pray because we believe in him. You can see this statue in the Catholic church and in the houses of people who are Catholic. I grew up in San Juan de la Maguana, a city in the D.R. In my city, the people have a lot of faith in the Divine child because they think it does miracles. Such as helping with problems and curing diseases my great-grandmother bought one for her and one for my grandmother the statue is important for my family. My great grandmother has passed the tradition to her children and to us grandchildren. She has shown us to pray when we are worried or when a family member is unwell and once the wish is fulfilled we go to church whenever we can to say thank you for everything. My great-grandmother would say one of her many prayers. When I lived in the D.R. my great-grandmother always let us read the bible so that we knew more about Jesus and God.
