My family artifact is an Ecuadorian Sucre (a coin), it has the number 20, which means it is worth 20 cents and it has a picture of a place in Ecuador. This is special because they used to use Ecuadorian Sucre as currency in Ecuador until they converted into U.S. dollars. This one in particular is worth 20 cents and was from 1988. On the left of the 20, it shows a structure from the capital of Ecuador, Quito. It even has braille on the face of the coin. This makes me feel happy because I get to learn the history of my country and what they used as currency back then. This is something that doesn't get produced anymore and reminds me of my home country. My family immigrated to New York City from Ecuador where I was eventually born.
