The Ecuadorian carnival is a very fun tradition in which the whole country, including all the cities, participates, even the oldest ones. This tradition is based on having a fun time with the family and living together. We have carnivals once a year. Eggs, flour, powdered colors, foam, anilina, water, pica pica and anything that can get people dirty are used. (Pica Pica is a powder that comes in many different colors and it makes you very itchy when thrown inside clothes). People take their inflatable pools out into the street so they can get in. The carnival happens in all the cities in Ecuador. None of the people who go get home clean. On the bus you cannot keep the windows open because people throw paint and water on them from outside. The children play and have a lot of fun. This tradition is one of my favorites because from the beginning of the day until a few days after it ends, I would play with my cousins and family, getting dirty and making jokes. I travel during the carnival to be with my family to celebrate. Unfortunately, this tradition cannot be carried out here, but I am very excited to go back to play again with my friends and family.
