Day of the Dead Skull
My object is a green skull. It is from Mexico. It is used as an offering to dead loved ones on the Mexican holiday called Day of the Dead. This day is to celebrate and remember loved ones who have died. It is made of sugar and clay. I chose this object because it reminds me of my family that has died. It is a way to feel like they are around. It teaches me about our traditions for the Day of the Dead. We place the skull on gravestones as an offering to the dead . It is connected to my great great grandpa on my moms side. This is the skull we offer to him. Pictures of dead family members also connect me to my ancestors. A question I have for my ancestors about my object is do they feel when we put them in the offering? I also wonder how this tradition started? I like this tradition because the people who died will always be remembered for a long time.
