Curry Pot
My comfort food is my Baaba's (grandma in Japanese) curry. It has chunks of beef, cooked carrots, potatoes, and raisins. She makes this curry with her special curry pot and a recipe implanted in her brain. This curry pot makes it so the curry melts in your mouth when you eat it. In my mom’s side of the family, the Japanese side, we say cooking and cleaning always skips a generation. If your parents liked to cook, then you got stuck with the cleaning and have learned to like it. My great grandmother loves to clean so my Baaba loves to cook. Even though my mom doesn’t like to cook, my Baaba has my mom down in her will for the pot. My mom most likely won’t make curry all the time, like my Baaba does, but I will fill that role!
