My mother immigrated from the Philippines. I remember her saying she only had $20 and a suitcase with her. She was not able to take much. She does not use measuring tools and cooks to taste. My mom makes adobo with chicken, bay leaves, vinegar, garlic, peppercorn and soy sauce. She usually served it with white rice.
