Crucifix
My great grandmother was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1915. She was the daughter of a family of farmers. However, before her birth, her family already moved from Mexico to Clifton, Arizona in a stagecoach in the late 1890’s. Before her birth, my great, great grandparents came back to Guadalajara to round up the rest of the family and bring them back. From Jalisco, they immigrated back to Arizona and then later into San Pedro, California. The reason I chose this crucifix was because of faith. My lineage has been a primarily Catholic family. For as long as I could remember, they practiced the Catholic beliefs. I, myself, was even baptized. But, more importantly, she always emphasized faith. They would constantly put their faith in God’s hands and would hope that God would lead them to safety both times my family moved back from America to Mexico. Fortunately, everyone made it there and back alive. I’m glad I got to know her, even if it was for a short time. She would always bless me and pray for me whenever I saw her. Even until her last moments, she put her faith in my grandfather’s hands to take care of the family when she was gone. She gave me a necklace that was very close looking to the one showed. Unfortunately, it was lost when I was young because we were moving houses.
