Every Sunday until I was about 12, my family would attend church. We would all get up and dress nicely to become closer to God. When my sister and I got more into sports we couldn't go to church as often because of our busy schedules. I still wanted to stay close to God, so I purchased a cross necklace when I was about 16. I purchased it because I have always believed in God and wanted to keep a close relationship with him even if we couldn't go to church every Sunday anymore. The necklace symbolizes a greater sense of family and relationships because it helps me stay close to God and the relationship I have with him along with my family and how I became closer to them through religion. I also have heard stories of my great-grandparents migrating here and basing a lot of there lifestyle upon religion.
