Creamed Rice
Everytime I go over to my Memer’s house, we make creamed rice with sausage and her homemade applesauce. When we have the creamed rice, we put some brown sugar in it for a touch of sweetness, and it makes an even more memorable taste. This has been passed down from my Grandfather's side of the family, and since my Memer knows that he likes it, she continues to make it, but only when I come over. It has been a special thing that we do ever since I was little. We still carry on that little tradition. The reason this food is so special is that it’s a tradition that has been passed down to her and to me. Every time we do this, it feels like such a bonding experience between us. Ever since I was little, my Memer and I used to cook all sorts of things. But this dish is special, and I feel very connected to it, and whenever I have it, it always brings me so much joy, especially the part where I sit down with my Memer and my Grandfather and enjoy this lovely meal that has brought so many to smiles. Now I hope that when I am older, my Memer will give me the recipe for creamed rice with brown sugar, sausage and her homemade applesauce.
