Corinthians 1977 Signed Jersey
This Brazilian Soccer team jersey is very significant for my father and me because it was the first time in 23 years that Corinthians won a Paulista Cup which is a very important soccer tournament in Brazil. This jersey also has a very special place in my dad’s heart because it was signed entirely by the whole team that won the cup in 1977. This team and jersey is also important to me because it was what my dad showed me to get interested in the sport of soccer. One of my fondest memories from this team that really got me hooked into this sport was back in 2012 when I came for the first time in my life to NYC and watched the Corinthians win their first and only Libertadores Cup, which is the most important tournament in all of South America. I remember clearly when I was 3 when they won the tournament I was doing this crazy celebration dance on top of my table while my dad was celebrating with me. This team is a very important team to my family because the culture of supporting this team has been passed down since my grandpa all the way to me. Some fun facts about this signed jersey is that one of the players that signed Zé Maria, was a world cup champion for Brazil in 1970. Unfortunately though, the Corinthians soccer club is going through a rough time and is currently projected to be relegated to the second division of Brazilian Soccer for the first time since 2007.
