This important food called tamales is used in my family especially at important events such as Christmas, weddings, Father's Day, Mother's Day and others. It is important because we share our tradition and customs at our table remembering  our ancestors who left us their legacies. This traditional dish made up of many spices is a reminder of our taste in food and how much we enjoy food cooked with these flavorful ingredients. I remember my grandmother making this traditional dish at every family event. Just looking at the delicious dish made almost everyone feel hungry, especially me.

Tamales are made with grated corn (cornmeal), two cups of chicken broth, dried mirasol, chili paste, peppers, garlic, grounded cumin, paprika, salt to taste and water. For the filling we use chicken or pork which is steamed in a corn husk or banana leaves.
