My personal symbol is the mix of the Colombian and American flags, representing the journey of a Colombian immigrant and the blending of two cultures into one. The yellow, blue, and red of the Colombian flag, combined with the stars and stripes of the American flag, shows both pride in their heritage and hope for new opportunities. This symbol reflects how immigrants stay connected to their roots while adapting to life in a new country. It’s a reminder of the resilience and hard work an immigrant or first-generation American goes through, shaping their character and identity. My story is about the way this symbol captures the essence of my family’s journey, as we moved to the United States, full of dreams and challenges. Our journey connects to both Colombia and America, as we carry with us the Culture, traditions, and values of our homeland, while also embracing the opportunities that the U.S. has provided. This symbol represents not just a flag, but a deeper story of migration, adaptation, and the strength it takes to live between two worlds.
