Growing up with Indian Americans/ American Indians and their secret methods of making Coco wheats.
Growing up having basically a second home in which I spent a lot of time, whenever I stayed the night there we were always served a fresh bowl of Coco wheats for cereal. The people who owned the house originally grew up and were raised in India, but when they found each other they fell in love and decided to get married. Their parents didn’t approve or agree with the couple so they ran away together, in hopes for a better life in America, while still visiting India and being in touch with their parents, despite their disagreements with how their lives turned out. They would travel all the way from India to America to get this cereal, so obviously it was a great treat growing up, it was also very sweet/sugary. Whenever they went on business trips in India, which would usually last for a few months at a time, they would always come back with coco wheat that lasts well seemingly forever and are extremely hard to make right. Specifically like she made it. It was a perfect mix of creamy but not liquidy but really really sweet and comforting. I’ve tried making it myself before but I could never get the consistency or level of sweetness that she had made them. I wish more than anything to be able to have it again.
