This is a photo of my 3rd great-grandfather, David Lusher, in his Civil War uniform. He was born in 1842 in Ohio and fought for the Union during the Civil War. I became very interested in my family's history a few years ago and I've really enjoyed discovering the many photographs and records I've accumulated through my research. 

My family on my mother's side has been in the United States since the mid-1700s. Discovering photographs like this one has helped me to realize the extension of my family's roots in the country's history. It really brings history alive for me.
