Christmas is a holiday that many people celebrate, but if you are like me, you don’t celebrate it religiously. I am an Athiest who celebrates Christmas, and my parents were raised Christian, but don’t practice Christianity anymore. In my opinion, this is a perfectly normal thing, and I never questioned it growing up. To me, Christmas has always been about traditions. It meant spending time with my family, who would travel from England to see my sister and me for the first time that year. It means playing in the snow, eating special treats, decorating the tree, and most importantly, our yearly tradition of building the new Christmas LEGOs. Every year, LEGO releases a new building to add to your Christmas village, and we have been collecting them since 2015. I have never known a Christmas without gathering around the table with my dad and bonding over those LEGOs. When I was tiny, my dad did most of the building, but as I got older, I demanded that he let me do it on my own, but I always called him back for help. My sister wasn’t as interested until recently, but now we all look foreward most to this part of our holidays because it’s more than just playing with toys. This tradition has provided meaning to Christmas where it lacked and brought my family closer together, and I can’t imagine a Christmas without it.
