Christmas in a Tin
This is a story about the one and only, holy grail recipe for stollen bread. My family has a ton of yummy recipes. Who doesn't like food?! Don’t even get me started on dessert! This one in particular always seems to stand out the most. Stollen is a bread that my family always makes during Christmas time with the Christmas soup and family. It is a tradition that my mom’s family has always made and the recipe has been passed down. I love making stollen with my mom every year under the praise of joyful Christmas tunes and cheer. We make some for our neighbors as well to spread the Christmas goodness. This bread tastes like spending time with family, listing to holiday music, and every other fun Christmas thing was in a tin! Stollen is a fruit bread made with green and red maraschino cherries and a pleasing amount of nuts and beautiful holiday spices. . Finally, it is coated with a layer of powdered sugar with some cherries on top, then sliced, and served warm with a pad of butter on top. Every time I take a bite I feel like a warm hug, while my tastebuds are singing “All I want for Christmas is stollen ohh ohh babyyy..,” I can’t wait to have this recipe passed down to me in the future with my own family to have on Christmas Day!
