Christmas Eve Dinner
When it comes to Christmas time, traditions are flying around everywhere. In my family, the biggest Christmas tradition is making Linguini and Clam sauce. Beginning with great great grandfather making this meal is a huge tradition that is being passed on and will continue to be passed on from generation to generation. I started helping out with this when I was eleven, only because that is when my grandma allowed me to. It represents our family coming together and making something for the rest of the family to eat. The process of making it takes all day which is good and bad. It is good because you get to spend the whole day with family that you usually do not see that often. However, it is bad because it takes the entire day away. The entire house smells like garlic, lemon, and fish. After a while you get used to the smell. But once your done cooking, the smell is stuck on you until you shower and scrub it off. My grandma and I always work together on the clam sauce and my mom and my aunt work together on making the baked clams. As well as us working separately and at different stations, at the end it all comes together for a great dinner for the family. There is nothing like working together with family members to create a delicious meal for your family to enjoy. Additionally, we are all keeping this old tradition alive and it will be passed on for generations to come.
