Catholic Pendant
This gold pendant is my mother's, who received it as a gift from her parents. The story goes that a year before she immigrated from Mexico to the U.S, her parents gave her a gold necklace that would represent her faith and her bond with each other. She was 17 at the time and her family was deeply religious, so to receive this from her parents meant a lot to her. My mother remembers when she was 18 and ready to immigrate to the U.S, her mother reminded her to not forget or lose the necklace. Since then, she has kept the pendant with her to this day, despite accidentally breaking the necklace part of it. While she hasn't bothered to fix the necklace part of the gift, she instead prefers to keep the pendant in a secured place to avoid losing it, at least long enough to eventually pass it on to me or one of my sisters. It is a constant symbol of her faith and her love for her parents.
