There is no place where I feel like I belong more than in New York. I love that about this neighborhood and this city. I feel so good here. It was always such a nice community. I have two children and it is beautiful for me to know that they’re going to grow up in an environment where they know they’ll hear so many different languages. The kids speak all types of languages, and they still play together and have a good time. It is such a gift. My son said, ‘It’s so wonderful to hear so many different languages. We are so lucky.’ The thing is, you don’t end up in these circumstances by choice. For my family, we had to leave. This is home now, but I feel like I have two feet in two different boats because I’m not fully American but I’m not fully Colombian anymore.
