first time making capirotada

In this photo I have made a desert called “capirotada”. The reason why I decided to use this picture as my “exhibit” is because years ago my mom asked my grandmother to write all her recipes down in a journal (this is one recipe out of many); she loved the way my grandmother cooked. When my grandmother got sick, my grandmother made sure to give my mom that last present for her to remember her. Shortly after I was born I was able to see her twice when I was a couple months old and when I was 1 or 2 years old. As my grandmother got worse, she finally gave my mother the cookbook she had asked for; she wanted to remember her every day and someday pass on the memory of my grandmother to my sister and me. As I grew up, she showed me how my grandmother cooked for her once I was old enough to help her in the kitchen. She showed me how to cook some of the recipes her mother left for her. Now my mother and I share special moments when cooking together since I know how important it is to her to keep my grandmother's memory.  Up to this day she remembers her mother everytime she cooks for our family.  This “tradition” may not be as old but it's something I want to carry on, and one day show my kids all the recipes my mother showed me and create beautiful memories like I did with my mother. I hope this tradition is held for many more generations.
