My aunt cooked candy yams for Thanksgiving every year. She would also make other traditional foods for Thanksgiving but the yams were my favorite because they taste better when I eat a large piece of watermelon after. When i got a little older she passed away and it was my job to make the Candy Yams for thanksgiving almost like a tradition you pass down to your family.  The first time I made them i messed up and came close to giving up. The second time I tried I focused on what I was doing to make my aunty proud of me. When the Yams were done cooking I let them cool and tried them and they were close to tasting like my aunty Candy Yams. I was happy and excited to eat them with watermelon again sitting next to my family.
