Story pending

My dad was born in England in 1969. He grew up in a port city on the south coast called Southampton. The city was home to both ship and aircraft manufacturing and a strategic bombing target during WWII. It is also known for the Titanic’s port of departure on its maiden voyage to New York. His family lived close to the water so at an early age he learned to sail and enrolled as a sea scout till he was 16. After grade school, he went to study art, mostly painting and sculpting, but there was always a camera by his side. In 1989 at age 18, my dad moved to America. Initially just a vacation to America, he was fascinated with American culture, the cars, long, straight roads, and diners. He soon realized that with hard work there was great opportunity in America and was fortunate to have relatives in Texas. He enrolled in a local college there, and a few years later he met my mom, a fellow student in his photography class. They both moved to New York in 1994, where my dad eventually opened a photography studio on Broadway. Photography ended up being what he was able to build his life upon in America and was a common thread throughout his entire life.
