I have a baby Syrian hamster named Butterscotch. Her personality is just being nice and gentle with others (other than my brother :D) She only bites to test boundaries with new people, and she lightly nips me when she wants to go back in her cage. She is a very loving and cuddly hamster. Butterscotch means a lot to me because my hamster, Dumpling, passed away a few days prior to getting butterscotch, and Dumpling’s cage, wheel, etc. is her gift to another hammy. I greatly miss my first hamster, but Butterscotch is just as sweet as Dumpling was and deserves to live a well-suited life, rather than being in a small cage without proper care. I truly think that hamsters are not just a pet, but part of our family, too. I made a memory box for Dumpling and have her favorite snacks, treats, a little bit of her bedding from her last night of being with me, and a small bookmark that says “Smol fren” with a little heart (so she knows what’s up :D). The only reason I got Butterscotch so suddenly after dumplings death was because I felt like there would be the right hamster waiting for me. I was correct. I am so glad I got Butterscotch. I’m glad that Dumpling got to live a good life, too.
