Imagine having to migrate 2,500 miles on a boat with only a few people that are just doing this to survive. Well I didn't do that, but my grandparents and great-grandparents did.  They were born somewhere near China and Vietnam and grew up there until early adulthood. But  when World War 2 broke out and everything was chaos, they had to leave their home and take a boat ride over 2,500 miles all the way to America as refugee's. This is very important to me as they sacrificed their home town, and where they grew up in, to go somewhere fresh. This was not out of choice, it was out of fear and safety, for them and to start the family that is me today and this could not have been easy. It was hard for them, as having to learn and live without the help of anything nowadays, and having to travel and find out different locations and areas just for basic needs.  This Buddha statue was not only passed down, but shows how far they have come and the footsteps I follow for myself. To be better than I was today, I will carry it on by showing it to the future generation with keeping it at the house for everyone to see even if they don't know the background.
