When my family immigrated from Colombia to here, they brought a handful of traditions and religious superstitions to the United States, but the one I remember the most vivid was a bracelet known as manillas. Manillas would usually consist of a linen rapped around your wrist, and would have a cross symbol alongside this. Our family uses this to remember the struggles we've been through, and to note that every day gets better with time.
