Box Of Recipes
My object of tradition is a box of recipes written by my grandmothers. From my great great grandmother these recipes have been passed down in my family, everyone adding their own recipes to the growing collection. It connects to my family by being the sum and additions of years of putting together recipes to be enjoyed by the people around them and the people that will follow. This box allows for the tradition of these recipes to continue throughout the family to be carried on through the generations, like it did with my grandmother and mother, shaping our identity and bond together. It shows us that keeping our old traditions and and creating new ones, is what it truly means to be an American. My story connects to migration; my great great grandparents came from Germany and Canada, bringing along this box with them. Eventually they had my grandmother who continued their tradition and legacy in the Americas.
