Bolo Tie

My freshman year of high school, I got handed down a bolo tie from my dad to wear to my first high school dance. I didn't think much of it at first, just thought this would look good with my outfit. Then my dad told me that this bolo tie has been passed down for generations leading back to my dad's grandpa. My dad's Grandpa Bill Fry was a silversmith and made this bolo tie, and it has been in our family since. The history of Native American bolo ties is a classic western accessory that has two decorative ends connected by a thin cord. These ties became famous in the 1930s when Native Americans tribal silversmiths in Arizona and New Mexico began crafting an alternative to the traditional necktie that resembled a sense of fashion. Bolo ties became really popular in the 1970s and is still worn till this day.
