The object I am choosing to write about is the black horse painting a close friend gave to me. The painting is about 3ft x 1.5ft, and it’s not very brightly colored as it is composed mostly of dark gray and brown shades. It is not painted on a stiff canvas, but a cloth canvas that can be rolled up. The painting was given to me a few years ago by a very close family friend of mine who was like a grandfather to me. His name was John. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and even though we were not related, we would always go over to his house, and spend Christmas Day with him and his wife; this is when he gave me the painting. The object is important to me because it reminds me of John, and all of the memories I have made with him. It also makes me sad, due to the fact that he passed away last year, and he was one of the closest people to me in my whole life. He was like a Grandfather to me, especially since I never really met my grandfather on my mothers side, as he passed away when I was only 3. This object I plan to keep with me my whole life, and hopefully pass down to my family one day, and I plan to bring it with me, wherever I live in the future.
