My mother had some hardships in her teenage years. She gave birth to my older sister and me before she was 18, and due to her age, my paternal grandparents helped her when she couldn't care for us. My father left when I was young, and my Abuelo became my rock. He was always there for me; it felt like he was all I had. He and my abuela began to have problems in their relationship, and they eventually split up. When he was moving away, I realized I couldn’t visit him as often, and that broke my heart. Before he left, he gave me the teddy bear and told me that “Bear Bear” would be there for me when he couldn't anymore. Over the years his fluff has flattened a bit and he can’t hold his head up anymore. Although I’m not a child anymore, BearBear holds a special place in my heart.
