My name is Michael Prince and the object that represents my family is a basketball. Almost everyone in my family growing up played some type of ball. Maybe if i didn't grow up around the sport i wouldn't play as much and hard as i do now. My older brother was like my role model and watching him play ball made me wanna play ball. Nobody in my family really went far with it but i'm trying to  take it as far as i can. Basketball i feel like will always be in my family. On all star weekend all the males in my family would come together and bet on teams and individuals, who would win the contest. Basketball to me isn't just a game. It keeps me out of trouble and focused on success. I remember when my cousins,uncles and brother would go to the gym and i would never get picked up or i would be the last resort. I started to think basketball wasn't for me.  People would laugh at me and tell me just stop to quit. Then i started putting in a full time commitment everyday leaving out around 7 am on days i wouldn't have school, Coming home late 1-2 in the morning and getting in trouble. Then i got better and better. Now i’m on a level where i can compete with other talented players. College is the next step. This is why basketball is important to me and is what represent my family.
