My object is a baseball pocket watch I think this watch perfectly captures American culture and has significant meaning to me one because baseball is a very strictly American sport pocket watches are so well used anymore. I had found this watch many years ago when I was probably around six years old at first I didn’t think much of it because as a young kid, you know we question too many weird things and you don’t go too deep about it I may be asked about it like a typical child but I don’t remember an answer or even if I asked about for sure, it was only about two years ago. I came across the watch when I was actually looking for another watch to wear for myself since it was the first time I was actually wearing watches and I had found it in my dad‘s drawer and when I asked him about it, it turns out the origin of it is quite boring actually he said he probably just bought it from somebody because he thought it was cool. It was probably very cheap. No real significant meaning behind it. I think this can connect to American history since American history obviously has some truth behind it and is obviously what really happened and then there is what people say happened, I think the story of this watch is similar since very well like I received the very boring story I could’ve received an outrageous story about heroism or some other cool character traits of my parents, but I received the true version and sometimes a true version can be shocking because of how boring it is but in reality somethings don’t always seem to have an epic backstory just to be cool.
