Bangladeshi Rickshaw
My object is a Bangladeshi Rickshaw. It’s from Bangladesh. It's used for transportation for small distances. The majority of people in Bangladesh use rickshaws. It’s handmade of wood, fabric, metal, and plastic. Rickshaws were first seen in Bangladesh around the 1930s. They are one of the most common ways of transportation in Bangladesh and are easily accessed.
I chose a Bangladeshi rickshaw as my object because it’s not like other rickshaws and vehicles because they have unique art on it that shows the way of our culture, traditions, and nature. I’ve been on a rickshaw before and it’s really fun riding one and I think that it’s really different from the vehicles in America. A Bangladeshi rickshaw teaches the way of transportation in our culture and about how it made an impact on our lives when people had a hard time finding jobs.
Recently Bangladesh banned rickshaws on some major roads because of traffic. What will happen to the rickshaw drivers who need jobs to earn money? Even though people can earn money for their families driving a rickshaw, I still feel bad for them because it’s hard work especially during the summer when it’s really hot in Bangladesh.
