In the Your Story, Our Story Project, I learned more about my grandpa’s history which was pretty cool. I got to learn a lot more about Andrea as well, we always had his picture in our house but I never knew the history behind it. My perception of my own identity has changed because I never realized how recent it was that my family migrated to the US. Something that has challenged me in this project was getting a hold of my grandpa, which I couldn't really except for over text. This made talking to him very difficult because he is deaf so his sentences weren’t very clear. The skills I learned in this project were, that I am very good at writing and submitting work on time when I am passionate with what I am doing, I of course am passionate about this because it’s my family’s history. I want to continue to develop these skills this year by being better at submitting work and working harder at finding passion in school work. I would recommend to my friends that they interview their family members to learn more about their family’s history because it could help them gain a further understanding on their family and where they come from. This helped me have a better relationship with my grandpa because I gained interest in where he came from and his childhood upbringing. I definitely suggest to anyone and everyone to do this and learn more about their history, you might also gain a better relationship with someone in your family.
