AN UNFORSEEN LEGACY
My great grandparents are two of the most impactful people in my family. My great-grandmothers father and mother both immigrated from Poland to Michigan in the early 1900s. My great grandmothers father Stanley Jargot passed away when she was six years old. My great grandfather George Drobshoff immigrated from Russia in the early 1900s as well. My great grandma who I called grandma was a special women, she won an award for Meritorious Service as a nurse in WWII. She met met her husband George in a church in Michigan, and got married shortly after. My great grandfather was a tool and die maker at General Motors for decades. They moved to Fremont, California in 1962, starting a family and a legacy that would be passed on for generations. They had 5 kids, one a Stanford alumni who is my grandma. Another one of my great grandparents kids who is my great uncle is a rocket scientist that works for LLNL (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory). LLNL responsibility is to ensure safety, security, and effectiveness of the nations nuclear deterrent. Him and his wife are among the first people the U.S would call on in a nuclear emergency. Who would have thought that a Russian and a Polish immigrant would somehow meet at a random church in Michigan, move to California and be successful. My great grandma passed away two weeks ago, and words can not describe the impacts she's left. Although neither of my grandparents are with us, their legacy is left with many to remember.
