When I was about 9 years old I remember that my dad changed jobs. When he got his first salary from that job, he went to my grandmother to tell her and my grandmother asked him for a 100 lempira bill. She then asked us (the children) to leave the house for a few hours because that has to be done in private (so I can't say how to do it) but my grandmother told me that one day she would do it for me and my brother when we received our first salary. I remember that when I was about 11 years old, one day I took money from my dad's wallet and there was that bill with red thread wrapped around it from some spices (I deduced it from the smell) and out of curiosity I grabbed it and my dad saw me and scolded me. Or why no one should touch it if it didn't get ruined and they had to be someone else and that's when my grandmother told me what it was for and that one day she would teach me how to do it to pass it on to future family. This is important to me because it reminds me of my grandmother who has already passed away and I can't tell you how to do this tradition that was passed down to the generations of Ramos since I lived nearby with her and we shared our lives since I was born.
