American Dollar Bill
My family immigrated to America from Egypt in the year 2009, when I was 3 years old. When we first came to this country, we were struggling to adjust. Work was scarce, and with two kids and one on the way, life became very difficult in this new country. Once my father found a stable job and was able to sustain without the help of the government, he gave my mother a single dollar bill. It had very little economic value but great sentimental value. This dollar signified success and that my family was economically stable. It brought hope to our family in the belief that if we were able to find a comfortable home and a decent-paying job, that we could be even more successful and we could one day experience all that the country has to offer. This dollar bill evokes memories of hope, pride, and success. I am grateful that my parents made the decision to come to this country and worked hard to gain and adjust. Thanks to them, I am able to share my story with the world.
