The city was built by immigrants; the whole country was built by immigrants. Especially being in the Lower East Side and seeing how diverse this community is, Jewish, Chinese, Spanish, and how well they integrate, I think it’s amazing. I haven’t seen this kind of mix in many cities I’ve traveled to. Diversity is everywhere, and it’s important that we all work together to make everyone come together.  We have to make it feel like it’s a community, so they can feel welcome, and can feel like they finally have a place, like I felt when I first got it here. For me, Puerto Rico was destroyed so I had to look for another place, and when we came to New York for the first time, I felt at home, especially when I first saw the Statue of Liberty from the plane. I remember it like it was yesterday.
