I migrated to the USA from Bangladesh. I come from a religious family who tried their best to follow what the Quran said about religion. In Bangladesh I didn’t wear hijab properly my family was concerned about me because they saw a lots of Muslim people used to wear hijab in Bangladesh but since they came here they stoped wearing it. Therefore, I joined one program called Muslim Ummah of North America and on every Sunday for two hours where all youngest people learned about Islam and especially the basics of hijab. Some people didn’t like that one of my classmate boy pulled off my hijab tried to take off at the gym it was unexpected. After that, I told my teacher she was really kind and supportive. She communicated that boy and asked why he did that, he was standing looked down and didn’t have no answer. The teacher told him lots of things and warned him not to do this again. After that when that boy sees me, he was so respectful and behaved well with me It was a pleasure for me. The more thing started to learned in the program understood the consequences the value of wearing Hijab was proud of myself and parent’s who pushed to come through that situation and I understand the fact that it's a great opportunity. As a Muslim we all should wear Hijab but many people don’t wear it. It’s their perspective making their own choices. Other people does because they think is part of their identity, gave priority about and shows symbolism of being Muslim.
